Alchemy to Chemistry collection
I made this series considering the way in which the use of screens impacts on our relationship with colour, how by moving from pigmented colour to coloured light our experience changes. I reflected on this my reviewing and using pigments that were transformed during the industrial revolution. Using the synthetic and the natural pigments with a considered contemplation on how they differ. this gestural piece in the collection takes pthalo green, a new pigment at the time, and references the breakthroughs in colour theory that sit behind the industrial break throughs through the use of a rainbow like arc.
